This disease is spread by the bite of a mosquito called Culex and it is an infectious disease. The government is running a large-scale campaign to eradicate this disease and a target has been set to eradicate this disease by 2027. For this, a universal medicine consumption campaign is run every year. In this campaign, anti-filarial medicine is given to all people above 2 years of age. According to Rohtas District Filaria Eradication Department, if a person takes the medicine for 5 consecutive years under the campaign, then the chances of that person getting filariasis become negligible. If filariasis parasites are present in a person, the parasites are eliminated there. According to the District Filaria Department, this parasite can be present in the body of any person and it can be identified only through testing. The symptoms of this disease appear after 10 to 12 years and once the symptoms appear, it cannot be cured. Therefore, people are advised to visit the dispensary under the campaign.
Do not ignore swelling in feet
Vector Borne Disease Control Officer Jaiprakash Gautam said that if there is repeated swelling in the legs, then do not ignore it, because it can also be a symptom of filariasis. He said that if for some reason the people who have filed a complaint under the campaign, If you have not consumed it and are complaining of swelling in your legs, you can immediately contact a government hospital and get proper advice. He told that its parasite can also be detected through filariasis test. If this disease is identified in the early stages, then this disease can be prevented.

During this time he found that most of the people still have misconceptions about filariasis. He told that most people still believe that it is a genetic disease. There are some people who have made their legs even more useless by getting them operated, even though there is no operation for this disease.

Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ashok Kumar said that patients suffering from filariasis can come to the OPD of Sadar Hospital. He told that like any normal disease, medicine can be taken any day by showing up at Sadar Hospital. Sarvajan Drug Sevan Abhiyan is a special campaign which is run once a year. But the person suffering from this disease can go to OPD of Sadar Hospital any day and see the doctor and can also get proper consultation. Dr. Ashok Kumar said that leg formation in filariasis is more visible during cold days. But in such a situation, some people ignore swelling of feet due to cold as a disease, but it can also be a symptom of filariasis. In such a situation, people are advised to immediately get tested for filariasis and seek proper advice from the doctor of Sadar Hospital in case of recurring problem of swollen feet.
